Consider Your Ways

Devotions for The Head, the Heart, and the Home

Haggai 1:5,7

Read: A revival without humility is a revival of hypocrisy. The one who thinks he doesn’t need revival stands in need of revival. Revival is a work of God in the hearts of believers that will always lead us to humility before the Lord and ignite the desire to honor Jesus in every aspect of our life. The Lord tells us to consider our ways. It is easy for us to consider the ways of the world, other denominations, churches, and Christians around us. However, we must consider our personal ways before God if we are to be revived. Real revival ignites a

reverence for the Word, worship, and work of God. These three areas of our life need some considering. (1) The Word: Am I in the Word and is the Word in me? God’s Word is able to both convict and

comfort our hearts. Each of us must revere the Word if the Word is to revive us. (2) The Worship: If we could only live our life

understanding that everything is an opportunity to worship the Lord it would change our life. There is nothing greater or more important in your life than humble Christ-honoring worship. Worship is the greater work. How we approach the worship of God tells us what we think about Him. (3) The Work: It is easy to consider our outward ways but the work of our hands should flow from a work of God in our heart. Our work for God tells a deeper story than activity.

Working hands without a worshipping heart is a faithless way to live. We need a revival of revering the Word, worship, and work of God. There will not be one without the other. Will you consider your ways?

Reflect: Read Psalm 139:23-24 and ask God to search your head, heart, and home. Confess sin and ask God to cleanse you.

Rest: Rest your head, heart and home in the Word, worship, and work of God. Nothing gives rest like rejoicing in God.

Respond: Take time to consider your ways as you read the Word and worship the Lord. As you do you will find the enabling strength to faithfully work for the glory of God.
