Gospel Priority

Devotions for The Head, the Heart, and the Home

1 Cor. 15:3-4

Read: We all have our priorities in life but our priorities must line up with the priorities that God has ordered for our lives. When our

priorities get mixed up then our lives get messed up. In order to make the Gospel a priority of “The Head, the Heart, and the Home” we need to know and apply the Gospel day-by-day and moment-by-moment. This passage shows that the Gospel is (1) Priority: Paul writes, “first of all” because the Gospel message is “first of all” in biblical Christianity. The Gospel must be “first of all” in “The Head, the Heart, and the Home” in order to truly live Gospel centered and God glorifying lives. The Gospel is the (2) Payment: Jesus’ death has paid the penalty and price for our sins. Without His substitutionary

sacrificial death we could never be saved. Jesus died a death that we deserved and died for a debt we could not pay. The Gospel also has (3) Proof: The burial of Jesus is the proof of His literal death but His resurrection is the proof of the payment for sin. It has been said that His death is the payment and His resurrection is the receipt. We must see as well the daily (4) Power: The Gospel not only is the power of God to save the sinner but as well to sanctify the saint. When we make the Gospel (Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection for sins) our priority then we will begin to see its life changing power in our daily life. We must preach the Gospel daily to “The Head, the Heart, and the Home” as the utmost priority in our life. There is never a moment that the Gospel isn’t available or a moment that it doesn’t need applying.

Reflect: Does the Gospel take priority in your life? Write down or discuss how the Gospel impacts the day-by-day things  in “The Head, the Heart, and the Home.”

Rest: Rest your head, heart and home in the power of the Gospel.

Respond: By faith, think on the Gospel and allow it to be your motivation for everything in your life. Ask God to show you the priority and power of the Gospel in each moment of your day to day life.
